Mabarhule, South Africa In 2022, Construction on the By Grace Textile and Community Center was completed and sewing classes are now regularly taught in the building. Here, we not only employ teachers from the local communities (4 women), we engage with the nearby high schools, ensuring that teenagers have a safe place to go when school gets out, all while learning a skill that will serve them throughout their lives! This year, 30 teens were taught in the program, and in 2023 we have plans for 150 teens to participate in the offerings. While studying, the learners produce reusable sanitary napkins that are donated to local women through a partnership with CefPads. Tamale, GhanaAll five of our apprentices who took the national credentialing exams via the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GNTDA) passed and are now working as seamstresses and dressmakers in three different communities in Northern Ghana. Each woman who completed the program was gifted with her very own sewing machine, and we are working to ensure they have all the resources necessary to run successful businesses.
