In addition to the acquisition, distribution, and use thereof, IMROP also monitors and aquatic ecosystems. IMROP's research activities are mostly conducted in partnership with national institutions or other countries. They are organized into programs that cover a variety of topics ranging from inventory valuation, biology and ecology of species to fisheries management through socio-economics and technology. These research programs are moving toward more integrated approaches that address environmental concerns of ever increasing. To fulfill its mission, IMROP provides: - 170 staff including 110 researchers and technicians on five geographic locations located Cansado Nouadhibou and Nouakchott Kaédi; - A budget of over 900 million Ouguiyas (2 million Euros); - 2 oceanographic research vessels that allow it to carry out investigations both in coastal areas at open sea.
