- apărarea intereselor sociale şi profesionale, statutului moral şi a libertăţii de opinie a membrilor săi, potrivit Constitutiei României;,- promovarea spiritului democratic, afirmarea valorilor umane, a schimburilor de experienţă prin colaborari cu orice tip de organizaţii din ţară şi străinătate;,- urmăreşte realizarea unor programe cu profil de educaţie sanitară, precum şi programe ştiinţifice şi culturale;,- să medieze relaţiile membrilor săi cu corpul profesional şi forurile superioare potrivit intereselor studenţilor;,- aplicarea şi participarea la proiecte de cercetare. Se modifică astfel:,- promovarea şi apărarea drepturilor şi intereselor profesionale, sociale şi culturale ale membrilor săi, precum şi a satisfacerii nevoilor acestora în domeniile: ştiinţific, cultural, social, civic, etc.,- să încurajeze cercetarea ştiinţifică şi pregătirea profesională, socială şi culturală a membrilor săi,- să faciliteze crearea şi dezvoltarea legăturilor profesionale, sociale, culturale, sportive între membrii săi,- să faciliteze comunicarea între cadrele didactice din învăţământul superior medical şi studenţii în medicina,- să afirme şi să promoveze toleranţa, pluralismul opiniilor, confruntarea liberă de idei, performanţa, spiritul critic şi autonomia universitară,- să încurajeze şi să desfăşoare acţiuni de propagandă sanitară, culturală şi civica în rândul populaţiei,- să desfăşoare în rândul elevilor de liceu acţiuni de informare privind condiţiile de admitere în învăţământul superior medical precum şi importanţa carierei de medic,- să promoveze şi să apere drepturile omului.
