CCCN first developed as an informal network where Members could meet and discuss issues. In 2012, the Members decided to formalize the Network in order to advance the aims of bringing together local and international NGOs, associations, private organizations and individuals to further develop and coordinate the work on climate change in Cambodia. CCCN was formally registered with the Cambodian Ministry of Interior in July 2012, following which an official Board of Directors was elected. Formal membership application has been open since then, with currently 35 Member organizations and 5 Observers. CCCN Members are brought together by the belief that global climate change is a priority - but one sometimes imposed without full consideration of other local priorities and issues. They work to allow both climate change and local issues to be taken into consideration in order to develop projects that benefit Cambodian communities, while preserving the environment.
