For Donors

Before you donate, check GiveRadar. We give you the data you need to make sure your money goes where it matters — not to excessive overhead, executive salaries, or organizations with governance problems.

What to Look for in a Charity

Trust Score

Every charity on GiveRadar has a Trust Score from 0 to 100. Scores above 70 indicate strong financial health and transparency. Scores below 40 suggest limited data or potential concerns. Use it as a starting point, not the final word.

Overhead Ratio

The overhead ratio tells you what percentage of expenses goes to administration and fundraising versus programs. Most efficient charities have overhead below 25%. Anything above 40% deserves a closer look — though some types of work (like research) legitimately cost more to administer.

Executive Compensation

GiveRadar shows CEO and top officer pay for millions of charities. High compensation isn't automatically bad — large organizations need experienced leaders. But if the CEO makes more than the charity spends on programs, that's a red flag.

Red Flags

Our system automatically flags charities with concerning patterns: unusually high executive pay, low program spending, missing financial filings, negative news coverage, or matches on international sanctions lists. Check the red flags section on any charity's profile.
