The Mexican Association for Aid for Children with Cancer (AMANC) started activities on June 15th 1982, as a response to the public hospitals deficiencies and lack of care support faced by Mexican families that have children or teenagers on oncological treatment. AMANC's founder and president Mrs. María de Guadalupe Alejandre Castillo, learned about these challenges from her son Pablo who could not overcome leukemia at 8 years old. For the past 40 years AMANC has been the first institution in Mexico to provide free and complete support to children and teenagers with cancer throughout their treatment. For the past 42 years AMANC has been distinguished not only as the pioneer organization in Mexico in helping children and adolescents on oncological treatment, but also as the first to ensure that their parents and other family members also receive psychological and other services necessary to ensure that they carry through their child's treatment and subsequent medical surveillance period. So our mission is to accompany children and teenagers on oncological treatment, as well as their families, with humanity and dignity, from early detection of the disease, through the all treatment and recovery. Our vision is to be the leading national institution that contributes to the survival, development and quality of life in children and adolescents on oncological treatment and their families. Also our vision is to live in a country where this population has been accompanied during all of this process, with a positive impact on the quality of their survival life through a complete model held by a transdisciplinary teamwork.
