During 2022 Circle of Friends School was contracted by a rural school district to provide their qualifying students with extended summer school services as directed by their Individualized Education Plan IEP. Activities are sensory based designed around each student's IEP goals and objectives and integrate the use of the student's individualized AAC system adaptive and mobility equipment. During 2022 Circle of Friends School organized community based activities that focused on increasing access for youth with severe disabilities and their family. These events demonstrated our commitment to breaking the cycle of isolations which each of our families face when parenting a youth with severe disabilities alongside their non-disabled sibling. In April Circle of Friends School held our first Family Dance fully equipped with a DJ and balance bar for students with physical disabilities to feel a sense of independence when dancing.
