Mission

Intuit is a premier museum of outsider and self-taught art, art created by artists who didnt, or sometimes couldnt, follow a traditional path of art making, using materials at hand to realize their artistic vision. The museums mission is to champion the diverse voices and pathways of self-taught art, welcoming new and familiar audiences. This mission is grounded in the ethos that art can be found anywhere and made by anyone. Chicago is recognized as one of the first places in the nation to embrace self-taught art as a legitimate genre, ultimately leading to Intuit being formed in 1991 by a group of artists, collectors, art dealers and art enthusiasts devoted to outsider art. After spending its first few years as an itinerant organization, Intuit purchased the space at 756 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Chicagos burgeoning West Town neighborhood to serve as headquarters for the organizations expanding activities.?Today, Intuit is preparing to renovate its space into a modern, welcoming museum i
