Through surveys, one-on-one interviews, and focus groups, we collected data to better understand how black lgbtq+ board members and staff saw inequity in their organizations and collect recommendations for systemic change. We assembled these findings into the bqeI white paper outlining 12 emerging equity indicators, and we shared it with our 16 partner organizations that made up the coalition of accomplices for racial equity (care) as well as the community at large during a public event with 100 attendees.we responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by creating virtual cultural programming that helped address mental health, economic instability, and isolation within our community, which was especially impacted by the pandemic. Our black queer caucus (bqc) is a group of black lgbtq+ people who meet monthly to design community programming that helps foster spiritual wholeness, cultivate self-worth, and build community some notable events of the year included: mind over matters: black queer men mental health conversations, gospel drag brunch, world aids day, fall fest, a black queer performance showcase, and the winter ungala.
