This is a review of Marie Curie's ecard web offering, not their organisation in general which I believe does sterling work and deserves five stars. On Christmas Eve, I sent three Christmas eCards to my family. When I came to open the cards via the link in the confirmation email I was sent, it had substituted the names I had put in the 'Who's it from?' box ! So in effect, the cards were seemingly addressed to the people that sent it! Turns out the version received by the recipient had the correct 'to' value shown on the card. But nevertheless, a poor show.

My nephew is presently being cared for at the Newcastle upon Tyne Marie Curie hospice, where he has little time left, and I could not think of a better place to be considering his predicament. The entire staff is professional and friendly to a fault: even the food is good, and that's saying something. The consultants, nurses, doctors, receptionists and auxilliaries, etc, go out of their way to look after my beloved nephew in his final weeks, and I am very grateful to them.

Mariecurie are running an advertising campaign to donate £23 for an hour of care. Now I'm all for supporting charities as I've given £10 a month to Cancer Research for the past 17 years.I have been a working man for over 40 years and presently earn £12.60 an hour, working 6 days a week, 10 hours a day during this cost of living crisis.I'm sorry, but I'm not going to donate double my hourly rate to anybody which equates to £60,000 a year.I suggest you ask for a more reasonable amount

Abdi Farah who represents Mari Curie came to visit my home and town to raise awareness and money for this amazing and worthy charity. He was an amazing representative and was positive and passionate about the charity which is, from experience, worthy of this level of representation. Thank you Abdi for doing such an amazing job as well as being so kind, knowledgeable and approachable!

as with a lot of families our lives are shattered when a relative is very ill with cancer. Last night my dear brother sadly died in Marie Curie in Elswick, Newcastle. His care by Doctor Kit, nurses, axillary staff and every person we came into contact with, was so genuine and humbling i am lost for the words to thank them. Everyone treat my brother with the up most dignity, care and understanding. I wanted some how to let them know how much they helped us knowing he was in such good hands and also how they made us feel. Every day whoever came on shift came in to see if were ok, did we need anything. You all spoke so caringly to our brother, although he wasnt awake, you were so gentle and when you went off shift you called in to say goodbye as you knew that it could be that last time you would see him because you didnt have a shift for a few days. A big thank you to the chef on last night who kindly made us a tray of sandwiches, crisps etc for our over night vigil with our brother, sadly he didnt make it over night, but the compassion was unmeasurable, we are so grateful. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts from Mike's family x

The Marie Curie South West Nursing team stepped in to night sit my husband for the last weeks of his life. Without them I would not have been able to share the little quality time he had left. They were diligent, compassionate and always ready with a hug for me, just when I needed it…thank you so much!

Adbi Farah visited my house in Mid-Wales and was honestly such a pleasant and funny guy to talk to. I’m unfortunately a little too young to be able to contribute much to this charity but I can easily tell the people apart of this charity are incredibly compassionate and positive with the sensitive work they do! Five starts for Adbi!!
