The NGO Education Partnership (NEP) was established in August 2002, as a result of a proposal from the Education Sub-Sector Working Group on NGO relations with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS). The intention of the Ministry was to increase the efficiency of communication with education NGOs and to extend their involvement in the education reform process. Since its inception in 2002, NEP membership has grown from seventeen (17) to eighty five (85). Initially, member organizations were predominantly headquartered in Phnom Penh.
