Environmental charities rise in this ranking by disclosing project-level detail, such as which land, watershed, or region a program covers, on top of the standard registration and filing checks. A national organization with regional chapters is scored on how clearly that chapter structure is disclosed, not on whether the chapters exist. Because conservation work spans everything from local cleanups to international policy campaigns, completeness of reporting matters more here than the scope of the mission. A high score means the charity's structure and finances are documented in detail, not that its conservation approach is the right one.
