Arab Women Media Center (AWMC) was established in Amman in 1999 by a group of Jordanian women journalists with extensive experience in press, television, and radio. Its founders identified a persistent gap in media coverage of women's rights, children's welfare, and family issues and created the center to address it through research, advocacy, and capacity building. The center was inaugurated in December 1999 by HRH Princess Basma Bint Talal and is based in the cultural Jabell Alwaibdeh neighborhood of Amman.
