The Institute was established to provide socially and economically useful services aimed at developing the Lower Pojizeří region, in particular: (a) the development of regional development strategies and plans; (b) coordination of regional development in all areas; (c) the development and promotion of the region and its potential; (d) the creation of new forms and opportunities for economic and tourist use of the landscape; (e) protection of landscape, settlements and their values as a single basic means of developing tourism; (f) promoting multifunctional agriculture and environmental protection; (g) services in financing projects to develop the region; (h) an assessment of projects aimed at developing the region; (i) coordination of projects and products aimed at developing the region; (j) the creation of an information databank to collect information beneficial to the development of the region; (k) cooperation with foreign entities related to the region; (l) preparation of information and methodological materials and school supplies; (m) education, education and information for children and youth; (n) cooperation on human resources development; (o) providing awareness and education of the region's human potential; (p) the operation of the information centre and its coordination and development; (q) communication with the authorities of the state administration and self-government in cooperation with the development of the region; (r) advisory activities; (s) activities linked to cooperation with the institutions of the European Union in the context of the development of the region; (t) the issue of printed matter; (u) the provision of field and crisis social services; (v) support for leisure activities; (w) disaster and natural disaster management activities; x) DMO Region Rudolf II.
