The collection funds provided by the Union will also support the marketing of basic work activities, in order to reach out to citizens who are interested in and need information on breathing health and respiratory diseases. In addition, the funds collected will be used to organise guidance, advice and support for respiratory groups. Hengitysliiton saamat keräysvarat käytetään vahvistamaan järjestötoiminnan (järjestötyö, vertaistoiminta, vaikuttaminen, viestintä) omarahoitusta julkisten avustustahojen vähentäessä avustusmääriä. Keräysvaroilla tuetaan myös perustyössä tehtävän toiminnan markkinointia, jotta tavoitetaan jäsenten lisäksi myös kansalaiset, jotka ovat kiinnostuneita ja tarvitsevat tietoa hengitysterveydestä ja hengityssairauksista. Lisäksi kerättyjä varoja käytetään hengitysyhdistyksille suunnatun ohjauksen, neuvonnan ja tuen järjestämiseen. Tällä vahvistetaan eri puolella Suomea tapahtuvaa paikallista vapaaehtoistoimintaa ja sen edellytyksiä. Keräysvarat mahdollistavat Hengitysliiton valtakunnallisen kokemustoimija-toiminnan järjestämisen ja kehittämisen. Keräysvaroja käytetään erilaisten hankkeiden ja kampanjoiden järjestämiseen. Nämä voivat olla valtakunnallisia tai alueellisia, toistuvia tai kertaluonteisia, verkon välityksellä tai paikan päällä toteutettavia. Keräysvaroilla voidaan myös hankkia pääsääntöisesti julkisen terveydenhuollon kautta hengityssairaille lainattavia hengityksen apuvälineitä: erilaisia laitteita ja mittareita.
