About Mozambique School Lunch Initiative

Our mission is to improve child nutrition and education outcomes in rural Mozambique. We address the immediate needs of child hunger and poor school performance by providing school lunch programs in rural schools. This increases children's nutritional intake and empower them to learn on a full stomach. We also address the longer-term root causes of child malnutrition by working with the local communities to stimulate agricultural development and reduce poverty. The school lunch program partners with local farmer associations, facilitating access to training and improved inputs, and then provides a stable anchor buyer through the school lunch program's procurement. In doing so, our goal is to improved child nutrition and community food security for a more prosperous future.
