How charities are registered in Germany
Germany does not have a single national charity regulator. Instead, charitable status is granted by the local tax office (Finanzamt) under sections 51 to 68 of the German Fiscal Code (Abgabenordnung), which defines the purposes considered gemeinnutzig.
