ACE Auto Club Europa e.V. is an eingetragener Verein (e.V.) - a registered association, the most common legal form for nonprofits in Germany. An e.V. is a membership-based legal entity registered with the local Vereinsregister (association register) at the Amtsgericht (district court). Members govern the association through a general assembly (Mitgliederversammlung). Germany has over 600,000 registered associations. To qualify as 'gemeinnuetzig' (charitable), an e.V. must be recognised by the local Finanzamt (tax office) under the Abgabenordnung (AO). It is registered in the Zuwendungsempfaengerregister (ZER) maintained by the Bundeszentralamt fuer Steuern (BZSt).
You can verify ACE Auto Club Europa e.V.'s charitable status in several ways. First, check the Zuwendungsempfaengerregister (ZER) at https://www.bzst.de/DE/Unternehmen/Zuwendungsempfaengerregister_organisation/zuwendungsempfaengerregister_organisation_node.html - the BZSt maintains this federal register of all organisations eligible to receive tax-deductible donations in Germany. Second, you can look up the association in the Vereinsregister (association register) at the local Amtsgericht (district court) via https://www.handelsregister.de/ - this confirms the legal form, registered address, and board members. Third, check whether the organisation holds the Freistellungsbescheid (tax-exemption notice) from its local Finanzamt - the notice is re-issued every three years and confirms the 'gemeinnuetzig' status under the Abgabenordnung. Legitimate charities publish this on their website or provide it on request.
You can donate to ACE Auto Club Europa e.V. directly through its donation page (https://www.ace.de/leistungen-tarife/fahrsicherheitstrainings/wir-helfen-helfern/). German charities typically accept SEPA bank transfer (Ueberweisung) to the organisation's IBAN, SEPA direct debit (Lastschrift/Einzugsermaechtigung) for recurring donations, PayPal, credit card payments, and online payment processors like Stripe or Mollie. Many German charities use platforms like betterplace.org, GoFundMe, or their own Spendenseite (donation page). International donors can give via SEPA transfer (Germany is in the eurozone) or PayPal. For your donation to be tax-deductible, you need a Zuwendungsbestaetigung (donation receipt) from the organisation - for amounts up to 300 euros, a bank statement showing the transfer is sufficient.

Terrible company.I quit their service after selling my car and leaving Germany. I then told them I have sold my car and leave Germany.Months later, they kept sending me mails, so I got in contact with a supporter and told her that I already have quit their service, I did not have a car, I did not live en Germany. Eventually she asked me about my new address. I told her my new address - and guess what - they started sending new invoices to my address - an address they would not have had - UNLESS I HAD TOLD THEM WHEN I ALSO TOLD THEM THAT I WANTED TO QUIT THEIR SERVICE.The irony is striking. Nevertheless - Do not use them, unless you want the same trouble as I. They are probably used to people keeping on using their service. And apparently they do not want you to leave!

Super bad service and when you try to cancel it they charge you for full extra calendar year plus the rest of current year

Their invoice system is not clear at all and makes you pay more than you expect. Even if you start your subscription in the half of the year, you pay full price to cover until December only. In the end, my subscription from May 2022 to May 2024 was charged 3 full years (covering until December 2024, so 2 years and a half). Doesn't make any sense and makes the customer feel like he was fooled.

Our car broke down on our way home from vacation, about 500 km from where we live (that happened on a Saturday, 13.07). Called ACE and about an hour later someone came to check our car. He advised to bring it to the nearest BMW Werkstatt which we did and there we agreed that they would fix it. In the meantime ACE arranged a Leihwagen which we had to pick up at the nearest Europcar station. ACE told us they would be able to extend the Leihwagen until the day our car is fixed (the following Friday according to the Werkstatt, 19.07). Today I called ACE about the status and the very friendly Mitarbeiter told me he would call the Werkstatt for the confirmation that they fixed our car. He called me back and told me that the Werkstatt gave him the confirmation that they fixed it and that we paid the Reparatur, so he could officially extend the Leihwagen until Friday 19.07. But, he said, because we had to drive 500 km to pick up our car again (on Saturday) ACE extended the Leihwagen not until Friday but until Saturday, which I really appreciate! And this wasn't the first time we had to call ACE. We had to call them twice before and both times they sent someone very quickly and all was taken care of. All in all, I'm very positive about ACE.

I was very happy when I chose this company, and I thought I had made the correct decision. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the biggest mistake of my life.I had a car breakdown and called them. At the beginning, they were friendly and quickly arranged an Abschleppdienst, but they insisted that I find a Werkstatt myself. I explained that I did not have one yet because I had bought the car only two months earlier. They told me to try and said that if I could not find a Werkstatt, they would support me.I contacted many places and finally found one. However, the Werkstatt later informed me that they could not repair the car and that I had to remove it. I called the ACE again and asked if they could take the car to another Werkstatt. They said no, stating that it was my decision to take the car to that Werkstatt and that moving it to another one was now my responsibility.I told them to please organize it and send me the invoice, as I had no idea how to do this myself. The employee only gave me a phone number and told me to call them on my own. I contacted the Abschleppdienst and had to pay 250 euros to move the car for a 10-minute distance from one Werkstatt to another. At that point, I already saw the “benefits” of this ACE insurance.I called them again and explained that I had paid for premium insurance and that, according to the contract, I was entitled to a rental car until my vehicle was repaired. They said they would call me back once a car was reserved. After about 10 minutes, the car rental service called me and informed me that my insurance had contacted them and that a car was reserved for delivery the next day at 10:00. I agreed. Two hours later, I received another call from the ACE saying that they had received a rejection and could not find a car for me that day, but that they would try again tomorrow. I told them this was impossible because the rental company had already confirmed delivery for the next morning. The employee then said, “Oh, okay, then every
