BSL level 1 was such a fun and informative course. The content and structure was easy to follow and flowed well. All course materials were understandable and all that you need is practice practice practice. My tutor was both professional and knowledge and had all the patience in the world. When it came to nerves and exams he put everyone at ease quickly making the experience more enjoyable. This course is well worth doing and the company is caring, compassionate and accommodating to individual needs.

Very informative course helping to gain a wealth of basic BSL vocabulary and practice effectively with fellow students

Deaf Unity have a good range of BSL courses available and signing up was simple. They have adapted their teaching of BSL to Zoom well and were helpful when contacted directly. A particular shout out to Mohsin who is an excellent teacher!

The Level 1 BSL course with Mohsin was appalling. His hands kept dropping below the camera which meant that, most of the time, I could not see them. When I emailed him about this, he ignored me. What made it worse is that he kept eliciting from students and putting up PPT slides, so I had to put the screen into gallery mode which shrunk him down to the size of a postage stamp and his completely disappeared from view. The class was overcrowded, there were far too many students. Mohsin posted homework videos on Google Classroom late every week, usually putting them up a few hours before the next class while I was at work, so I had not time to study them. He did not give us a comfort break, which is unheard of in a 2 hour zoom class, which made it very tiring after a day's work and I found it impossible to focus. He then sneakily put us into break-out rooms for far too long, clearly so that he could give himself a comfort break. He then finished the class 15 minutes early. He was so unprofessional that on one occasion he allowed his flatmate to interrupt the lesson to talk about a blocked pipe and then did not even apologise to us for the interruption. Deaf Unity insists you pay £550 for the whole course in advance, before you have even had the first lesson and met the teacher. I have a background teaching EFL and this is unheard of, the norm in EFL is to charge for one month at a time, so that students can withdraw if they are not happy with the teacher. I withdrew from the course after 5 lessons and complained to Deaf Unity, but they were dismissive and refused to reimburse me a penny. I feel ripped off and very disappointed by the poor quality of this course and will be informing Signature. I recommend avoiding this company and particularly this teacher.
