Im Mittelpunkt der Aktivitäten des Verbands will sich der Verband auf nationaler und europäischer Ebene für eine grüne Wasserstoff-Marktwirtschaft zur nachhaltigen und emissionsarmen Energieversorgung mit den dafür erforderlichen marktwirtschaftlichen, technologischen und ordnungsrechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen für Anlagenbau, Erzeugung, Transportinfrastruktur und Anwendungstechnologien einsetzen. Ziel aller Aktivitäten des DWV ist dabei, kommenden Generationen eine lebenswerte Umwelt und sozial gerechte Gesellschaft hinterlassen zu können. Um diese Herausforderungen zu begegnen, setzt sich der DWV auch europa- und weltweit für eine globale nachhaltige Wasserstoffwirtschaft ein. Dazu veranstaltet der DWV Fachkongresse, Diskussionsrunden und ähnliche dem Austausch dienende Formate mit dem Ziel, die nötige Aufmerksamkeit und das Verständnis zu fördern für eine Gesetzgebung, die den Hochlauf der nachhaltigen Wasserstoff-Marktwirtschaft im Interesse des Klimaschutzes und damit auch der Stärkung der deutschen Industrie befördert. Zu diesen Veranstaltungen werden regelmäßig Vertreterinnen und Vertreter aus Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft, Bundes- und Landespolitik sowie Verwaltung eingeladen. Der DWV gibt zudem Studien zu relevanten Themen rund um die Entwicklung der Wasserstoffwirtschaft und mögliche Anwendungsfelder in Auftrag. Der DWV entwickelt und vertritt auf politischer Ebene entsprechende Vorschläge für regulatorische Rahmenbedingungen im Rahmen von Appellen, Stellungnahmen und Positionspapieren. Auch hierzu steht der Verband im regelmäßigen Austausch mit Vertreterinnen und Vertretern in Wissenschaft, Medien, Wirtschaft und Bundesbehörden sowie Abgeordneten des Deutschen Bundestages und deren Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern.
