It was easy to book, the staff were really friendly and helped calm my nerves, we all laughed a lot and the experience felt like fun not too serious, but I knew it was important. It’s a big emotional step to take to get behind the wheel again and was made to feel relaxed and at ease. Much easier then I had expected which was all down to the staff and how they interact with you

If you are asked to take this test…don’t do it!Firstly this is a voluntary test,my wife was informed after she took the test.Sure if a person is unsafe to drive they have the licence to take your license away.My wife has early onset of dementia, she gets a little tongue tied that is all.She took this test and passed the mental test but was borderline with her driving as most of us are after many years. She was offered the opportunity to take another test but was too upset to carry on.Prior to the test she was informed that it was a minor test and was told not to bother with a few lessons. Can you imagine taking a test with two testers in the car and one with a clipboard!I would not fancy taking it myself. After the test they suggested that she took a couple of driving lessonsBefore she took a retest! After the experience she has completely lost her confidence.prior to the test she drove to Manchester to visit the grandchildren on a regular basis as well as home visits for charity.Take my advice, do not take this test, rely on your doctors advice. The whole situation could have been avoided…..do not take this test…your doctor, husband ,partner ,yourself will know when it’s time to stop driving.Keep your independence for as long as you can with other people’s safety in mind….don’t do it!

After being welcomed by the Occupational Therapist & the Driving Assessor, I was immediately put at ease. Everything was explained thoroughly & then throughout the informal chat & then the actual driving assessment, I felt extremely comfortable & even confident after receiving such lovely feedback from them. Prior to arriving for the assessment, I felt nervous/anxious as the potential outcome was so important to me, I needn't have worried. I also got my licence back, after this was surrendered, due to medical reasons.

My initial assessment commenced 07/08/24 with East Anglian Drive Mobility at their Thetford branch. I felt very nervous prior to my assessment but as soon as I arrived I was put at ease by very friendly staff. My assessment commenced with a range of Cognitive tests, reaction tests and a series of tests on a simulator. After each test the assessors both medically and driving explained the outcome, why it’s carried out and what each test achieves. When the Stage 1 assessment was completed I received a very comprehensive report which along with eye tests by Optometrist’s at Specsavers was submitted to the DVLA for allowing me to take Stages 2 & 3 of the driving assessment. On their 18/12/24 I took the final two sections with EAD at Thetford and on their 15/01/25 I received my full driving licence so after 19 months of not being able to drive I have got my life back on track thanks to all the staff at Thetford.I cannot thank them enough for all their help and guidance in getting my licence back, without them I would never have been able to drive again.Thank you all and I will certainly recommend EAD to anybody who like me as suffered a stroke or any other illness to get your life back on track, they can help in so many ways and their service is exceptional and fully appreciated by many.
