この法人は、国内の家庭環境や経済的環境に恵まれない子どもの養育を行い、児童福祉の増進、人権の擁護及び健全育成を促進し、地域社会に寄与すること、また、世界中で増加する孤児を救済及び支援するため、孤児院を設立し、入所児の生活・保健・教育に関する事業を展開するとともに、運営されている孤児院を援助することを目的とする。
認定NPO法人「礎の石孤児院」は、1997年にカンボジアでの働きから始まり、現在はカンボジアで孤児院の働き、ザンビアでは首都ルサカのスラム地区で無料の学校運営を行い、主にHIV孤児の子ども達を対象に学習支援、給食支援を行っています。フィリピンでは学校に通うことの出来ない極貧の子ども達が学校に通えるように学費、学用品費を支援しています。日本でも家庭的な養育の環境が必要な児童のためにファミリーホームの設置のために、準備が進められています。
