Luonto-Liiton rahankeräystoiminnalla tuetaan sääntöjen ja toimintasuunnitelman mukaista toimintaa, jonka pääasiallinen tukija on Opetusministeriö. Rahankeräystoiminnalla rahoitetaan myös jatkossa sääntöjen ja rahankeräysluvan mukaista hanketoimintaa, jonka päärahoittajana ovat tähän saakka olleet esim. Opetushallitus, Ely- keskus tai muut vastaavat viranomaiset tai esim. säätiöt. Hankkeiden omarahoitusosuus pyritään pitämään mahdollisimman pienenä 10-20 prosentissa. Varoilla rahoitetaan Luonto-Liiton järjestämän lasten ja nuorten luonnonharrastus- ja ympäristötoiminnan, kerho- ja leiritoiminnan, koulujen kerho- ja oppilaskuntatoiminnan sekä kouluvierailutoiminnan järjestämistä ja näitä tehtäviä hoitavien työntekijöiden palkkausta sekä erilaisten näihin liittyvien materiaalien tekemistä ja toiminnan ohjaamista, hallinnointia ja vaikuttamistyötä. Luonto-Liiton henkilöstö ohjaa ja koordinoi järjestön toimintaa siten, että nuorten on helppo tulla toimintaan mukaan oppimaan niin päätöksentekoa kuin yhteiskunnallista vaikuttamistakin.
