I invited Refurnish in Tavistock to come and look at a variety of items we were getting rid of as a result of moving into a smaller house. The experience wax abysmal, I would have given a zero star rating if that had been possible. The staff were very rude, judgmental and dismissive. We had a King Size bed and mattress that they dismissed because of 'serious' staining. It was not seriously stained, if it had been we would have arranged for it to be taken away by the council, as we already had with several items. The second item was a huge Blomberg fridge/freezer, on the basis it was on it's last legs. They described it as such with each other in front of my partner with as much effect for disparagment as they could muster. The fridge/freezer is less than five years old. It ponged because it was turned off and left for several days in our absence by another so called professional, ruining about a £100 of food for starters. We cleaned and disinfected the unit, but it is clear a few days with the doors open would have been helpful. We don't live in the house where these 'issues' exist, having already moved. We went back for Refurnishes visit. I was under the illusion Refurnish were a charity looking for support from the public for acquisitions. They would do well not to treat them with contempt and sneer at people. I will never deal with Refurnish again for any reason. I will also steer people away from them when the chance arises.

The Tiverton branch shop has the rudest most obnoxious staff I’ve encountered who look down & speak down to their customers & this company should be ashamed of how far downhill it is going with zero respect towards their paying customers. I will highly recommend NOT using the store. Plus the the over the top prices they are charging for stuff, I’m amazed they sell anything tbh, who would pay £15 for a tattered old book !! Brass ornaments that look like someone has dug up from a garden £25 ? Where they get their prices ? The shop has Loads of stuff priced massively over the top, the other half that’s not priced they make up on the spot !! For example they told a child a Cuddly toy is £5 & upsetting a child by going way overboard with a price no parent would afford. Im not being ripped off for £5 for something worth 50p anywhere else, I’d have gone to a pound but £5 ? Then snatching the toy away like we were going to steal it ?? These people obliviously price stuff via eBay (eBay has millions of customers btw not just a few people off the street) that the only answer because the prices are massively highly inflated beyond anything even an a high end antique dealer would charge !! So if you want to pay over the top prices for broken stuff, ripped books, dirty old plates & utter garbage this is the place to go to !! I understand that any business would like to turn a profit but charging premium prices & having zero customer service at the same time isn’t a good combination. Never again. Hope you go bankrupt.
