この法人は，摂食障害当事者及びその関係者等に対して，摂食障害の治療にかかる臨床と研究及び実践に努めるとともに，摂食障害の治療並びに自立を支援する事業を行い，もって社会福祉の増進に寄与することを目的とする。
摂食障害は治療が難しく、多くの医療機関から敬遠されている疾患である。低体重で身体的に重篤になるため、単科精神科病院では治療が難しくなる一方で、精神症状から治療を拒否し、身体的には「拒食」や「過食」以外で問題となることはないため、一般の内科病院でも治療が受けられない。患者や家族は、診療をしてくれる医療機関を探す時点で相当な困難を経験する。また受診し、ある程度回復した後も継続的な福祉的サポートが必要であるが、その繊細さゆえに通常の精神障害者施設にはなじめず脱落してしまう。本事業は、医療機関や行政機関の垣根を越えて、京都という地域で摂食障害診療にあたる有志が、厳しい現状を打破し、摂食障害治療の新しいモデルを構築しようという他には類を見ない活動である。これまでの活動や経緯については、関連する学会等で発表を行っており、高い評価を受けている。
