The BIG FIX provided support to The BIG FIX Uganda which operates the only veterinary hospital in Northern Uganda and provides charity services to the communities. During 2021, the veterinary hospital remained open 365 days, receiving emergency cases 24 hours a day. A total of 2,163 community members brought their animals to the hospital for services. The number of patients included 2,065 dogs, 96 cats, 1 cow, 1 duck, 1 goat, 1 pig, and 2 rabbits. A total of 479 patients were admitted to the hospital for intensive treatment with parvo virus being the top reason for admission. The number of patients included 2,065 dogs, 96 cats, 1 cow, 1 duck, 1 goat, 1 pig, and 2 rabbits. A total of 479 patients were admitted to the hospital for intensive treatment with parvo virus being the top reason for admission. The other admissions included 26 serious trauma cases, 22 poisonings, 11 fractures, 29 cancer patients for chemotherapy, among others. 437 surgeries were performed at the hospital including 166 dog spays, 211 dog neuters, 14 cat spays, 15 cat neuters, and 27 other surgeries such as amputation, hernia repair, eye removal, and tumor excision. A total of 362 community dogs and cats were transported to the hospital for spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, and de-worming. A total of 39 village field clinics were held at which 6,682 dogs and cats received rabies vaccinations, de-worming, and treatment of wounds/injuries. These field clinics provided veterinary services for animals in areas where such services would have otherwise not been available. 118 spay/neuter and other surgeries were performed at these field activities. Field Educators exchanged 2,857 ropes for unsafe neck restraints on dogs and 3,191 dog guardians received one-on- one education from our field educators. In total, The BIG FIX Uganda treated 8,845 animals during 2021 and performed 555 surgical procedures. During 2021, The BIG FIX Hospital opened an infectious disease isolation treatment unit primarily for parvo virus patients to improve survivability from the virus. The COVID-induced lockdown created hardship for many of our Comfort Dog Project participants and their families so an emergency food distribution was carried out in June
