The 2022-2023 girls on the run of central oklahoma is still working to build back better. After our most significant fall season in 2017, we didn't have as many takers in fall 2022. We held a modest season of six teams and 60 program participants. We were thrilled to have six teams helping us grow our fall season numbers. Our girls would not succeed without the hard work of our coaches we are so grateful for the 30 coaches we had completed training and led the girls through a successful season. This year, girls on the run of central oklahoma had planned to hold their season-ending celebratory 5k at the okc parks stars and stripes park. But mother nature had other ideas. The forecast for our celebratory 5k was negative 22. Our board decided to postpone the 5k until may 2023. We did provide each team a box of supplies to run their 5k at their practice site and offered everyone the opportunity to run with our spring season in may. We are always happy to partner with the community on a larger scale, which was a great collaboration. The girls got to run with other participants, thus providing loads of energy and excitement spring 2023 rolled around, marking the beginning of our 13th girls on the run spring season. The program serves 3rd-5th-grade girls at 22 sites we were thrilled to have 311 program participants. We had a total of 75 coaches for the season. Our program has a fee, and we are always grateful when girls can pay all or a portion of the price; still, we do not turn girls away. Thanks to donations and sponsors, we could serve 61% of our girls on a sliding scale or scholarship. We were happy to return to bricktown and the chickasaw ballpark to host our celebratory 5k. We had a beautiful sunny day to help our 311 program girls and their buddies run fun we were excited to host over 700 participants during our running event our board felt this 5k was our smoothest yet due in lar
