Die INES ist ein Zusammenschluss von Betreibern deutscher Gas- und Wasserstoffspeicher und hat ihren Sitz in Berlin. Mit derzeit 17 Mitgliedern repräsentiert die INES über 90 Prozent der deutschen Gasspeicherkapazitäten. Die INES-Mitglieder betreiben damit auch knapp 25 Prozent aller Gasspeicherkapazitäten in der EU. Außerdem treiben die INES-Mitglieder in zahlreichen Projekten die Entwicklung von Untergrund-Wasserstoffspeichern voran und gehören damit zu den Vorreitern dieser wichtigen Energiewende-Technologie. INES fördert die öffentliche Wahrnehmung der Rolle der Gas- und Wasserstoffspeicher bei der Sicherstellung einer zuverlässigen/leistungsfähigen, umweltverträglichen und preisgünstigen Energieversorgung.
