この法人は、地球上の全ての人々が自然と共存し、共に生きられる社会を築くために、１）世界の様々な場所で国際協力の活動を通して、社会的に強いられた困難な状況を、自ら改善しようとする人々を支援し、２）地球環境の保全を図る活動並びに、社会教育活動を通して、新しい生き方と人間関係を創りだすことを目的とする。
日本国際ボランティアセンター（JVC）は、1980年にインドシナ難民の救援を機に発足し、現在、アジア、アフリカ、中東、そして日本の震災被災地で活動している国際協力NGOです。 急激な変化にさらされている農村で環境保全型の農業を通して暮らしの改善に協力するほか、紛争の影響を受けて人々が暮らす地では医療をはじめとした人道支援を行っています。またシンポジウムなどのイベントや、書籍・提言書の発行などを通し、現場の声を政府や社会に届ける政策提言・アドボカシーの活動にも力を入れています。 足りないものをあげるのではなく、つくる方法を一緒に考える。紛争で傷ついた人を助けるだけではなく、紛争を起こさない道をつくる。「問題の根本にこだわる」。この思いがJVCの活動を貫いています。
