Dazu gehören Länder- und Branchenarbeitskreise, Fachkonferenzen, Delegationsreisen sowie Hintergrundgespräche auch mit politischen Entscheidern. Insbesondere die deutschen Boschafter in unseren Partnerländern in Mittel- und Osteuropa sind wichtige Ansprechpartner, die ein Bild der Lage vor Ort vermitteln können. Kontakte gibt es aber auch in die entsprechenden Länderreferate und Fachabteilungen von AA, BMWK, BMZ, BMEL sowie ins Bundeskanzleramt und zu einzelnen Bundestagsabgeordneten, die sich in den entsprechenden Parlamentariergruppen für die Länder unserer Region organisiert haben. Immer wieder tragen Referenten aus den Fachabteilungen der Ministerien in Sitzungen unserer Arbeitskreise oder bei Fachveranstaltungen vor. Als Interessenvertretung der deutschen Wirtschaft engagieren wir uns aktiv in bilateralen Regierungsarbeitsgruppen und Gremien. Hier fördern wir die Geschäftsmöglichkeiten für deutsche Unternehmen in den Partnerländern und adressieren spezifische Unternehmensanliegen. Der OA setzt sich darüber hinaus für die Schaffung und Sicherstellung fairer Wettbewerbsbedingungen ein. Unser Ziel ist es, die wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit Deutschlands mit der Region zu stärken und nachhaltiges Wachstum zu fördern. Bezüglich einer möglichen Einflussnahme auf aktuelle oder geplante Regelungsvorhaben ist darauf hinzuweisen, dass der Ost-Ausschuss keine (juristischen) Ressourcen besitzt, um Gesetzgebungsprozesse in Deutschland oder den 29 Partnerländern aktiv und im Detail zu begleiten. Wir flankieren aber von Fall zu Fall Unternehmen, wenn diese durch gesetzliche Neuregelungen betroffen sind oder sein könnten und uns um Unterstützung bitten. In der Regel betrifft dies Gesetzesvorhaben in unseren Partnerländern, wie aktuell etwa im Falle einschneidender Gesetze zum Nachteil deutscher Unternehmen in Ungarn. Zudem organisiert der Ost-Ausschuss ein Projekt zur „Harmonisierung der Technischen Reglements“ mit Schwerpunkt Zentralasien, bei dem Arbeitsgruppen Vorschläge zur besseren Angleichung technischer Anforderungen in der Region an EU-Standards erarbeiten. Selten geht es dagegen um Gesetzesvorhaben in Deutschland, da diese von unseren Trägerverbänden BDI und DIHK bereits begleitet werden. Eine Ausnahme sind Vorhaben zur Ausweitung von Sanktionen gegen Länder in unserer Region (z.B. Russland/Belarus). Zu diesem Thema lädt die Bundesregierung ad hoc unter Federführung von BMWK und AA regelmäßiger zu Verbänderunden ein, um mögliche Auswirkungen von Sanktionen auf deutsche Unternehmen zu diskutieren, an denen sich auch der Ost-Ausschuss beteiligt. Eine weitere Ausnahme ist das Thema Wiederaufbau der Ukraine. Hier bemüht sich der Ost-Ausschuss die Anforderungen der deutschen Unternehmen zu bündeln und gegenüber der Bundesregierung Vorschläge zur besseren Gestaltung deutscher Förderinstrumente zu übermitteln. Dazu wurde im Umfeld der Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 in Berlin auch ein Ost-Ausschuss-Dossier mit Vorschlägen aktualisiert.
