Los Cahorros (the "Cachorros" family) is a family of children from Peru, who are often living in the streets because they are unable to support the children (often several) in the streets. It is also violence and abuse that are the reason why children are coming to the streets. Los Cahorros tries to help them by providing a safe environment where they can spend the night. Los Cahorros also offers them a lot of personal attention and love, so that the children can continue to develop themselves socially and mentally. Furthermore, it is ensured that there are plenty of opportunities to play and learn, to give them a little push towards a future on their own. Los Cahorros gives the children the four essential Bhs: bed, bread, and accompaniment.
De stichting Los Cachorros (“de welpen”, zoals de straatkinderen in Peru worden genoemd) biedt hulp aan kansarme Peruaanse straatkinderen in de leeftijd tussen de 6 en 16 jaar, die om diverse redenen de nacht op straat moeten doorbrengen. Vaak zwerven zij op straat omdat de ouders niet meer in staat zijn de (vaak meerdere) kinderen te onderhouden. Ook geweld en misbruik zijn redenen waarom kinderen op straat terecht komen. Los Cachorros probeert deze kinderen te helpen door het bieden van een veilige omgeving waar zij de nacht kunnen doorbrengen. Daarnaast biedt Los Cachorros de kinderen veel persoonlijke aandacht en liefde, zodat de kinderen zich sociaal en mentaal kunnen blijven ontwikkelen. Verder wordt ervoor gezorgd dat er volop mogelijkheden zijn om te spelen en te leren, om de kinderen uiteindelijk een duwtje in de goede richting te geven naar een toekomst op eigen benen. Los Cachorros geeft de kinderen de vier essentiële B’s: bed, bad, brood, en begeleiding. Oftewel: Los Cachorros zorgt ervoor dat kinderen weer kinderen kunnen zijn.
