At the beginning of its establishment, Yayasan Adil Sejahtera (YAS) focused on promoting community-based economic development by providing direct assistance to business groups across several regions in South Sulawesi. Through its close engagement with local communities, YAS identified a number of fundamental challenges faced by entrepreneurs and small business owners. One of the most significant issues was the difficulty of formalizing businesses due to complex and cumbersome licensing procedures. In early 2004, YAS partnered with several local governments, with support from international development organizations, to provide policy advocacy and technical assistance aimed at improving the regional business and investment climate. YAS served as an Implementing Partner of the KOMPAK Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (PS2H) Program in South Sulawesi. In recognition of its contribution, the Governor of South Sulawesi awarded YAS a Certificate of Appreciation in 2015 for its outstanding assistance in enhancing the quality of public service delivery throughout South Sulawesi.
