What is a charity cause?
A charity cause is the specific issue an organization works on, such as hunger, literacy, domestic violence, or ocean conservation. Causes cut across formal categories: a food bank (category: human services) and a smallholder-farming NGO (category: international) share the cause of Hunger. GiveRadar maintains a single curated cause vocabulary so the same issue always has the same name, in every country.
How charities get their cause tags
Cause tags are assigned by GiveRadar from each charity's name, stated mission, and registry classification, always from the curated vocabulary (never free-form), and a charity can carry several. The tags are ours, not something charities choose or buy, and mis-tagged organizations can be reported to info@giveradar.com. Can a charity have more than one cause?
Yes, and most do: causes describe issues, and real organizations usually work on several at once. A charity supporting refugee children might carry Refugees, Children, and Education. Its formal category, by contrast, is always exactly one.

GiveRadar assigns them from the charity's name, stated mission, and registry data, using one curated vocabulary so identical issues get identical names worldwide. Charities cannot buy, choose, or edit their tags; corrections go through the standard review at info@giveradar.com.
