IPSS | O Centro Social de Azurva existe desde 1981 e é uma IPSS situada no concelho de Aveiro. Azurva teve características rurais e está incluída numa freguesia rural. No entanto, tem vindo a transformar-se numa zona dormitório da cidade de Aveiro, pelo que se tem sentido, nos últimos anos, um crescimento populacional muito elevado. A iniciativa, que derivou na criação desta Associação, partiu de um grupo de pais que se associaram no sentido de criar um novo serviço para os seus filhos, decorrendo da necessidade de criar formas de proteger e ocupar as crianças durante o período laboral dos pais. O primeiro espaço físico, ocupado há três décadas, foi uma sala cedida pelo Grupo Desportivo de Azurva onde funcionou, …

A iniciativa, que derivou na criação desta Associação, partiu de um grupo de pais que se associaram no sentido de criar um novo serviço para os seus filhos, decorrendo da necessidade de criar formas de proteger e ocupar as crianças durante o período laboral dos pais. O primeiro espaço físico, ocupado há três décadas, foi uma sala cedida pelo Grupo Desportivo de Azurva onde funcionou, de forma precária, durante alguns anos, a valência de ATL. Depois passou a funcionar nas instalações devolutas da antiga Escola Primária e só a partir de 1983 teve instalações próprias. Alargou entretanto a sua área de atuação ao Pré-escolar e mais tarde, já nos anos 90, à Creche. O Centro Social de Azurva desde sempre se preocupou com a melhoria contínua e com a prestação de um serviço de qualidade aos seus utentes e à população da localidade onde está inserida, diagnosticando necessidades de intervenção com a população mais idosa. Nessa altura (2001), avançou com a resposta social de Serviço de Apoio Domiciliário, que funciona agora em horário alargado, 365 dias por ano. O crescimento das instalações e o alargamento dos serviços prestados, durante estes mais de 30 anos de existência, traduziu-se na resposta às solicitações da comunidade envolvente, nomeadamente devidas ao aumento demográfico da localidade de Azurva e às alterações sociais que foram acontecendo. Atualmente, as respostas sociais são: Creche - 42 crianças; Pré-Escolar - 50 crianças; Serviço de Apoio Domiciliário - 30 idosos.
