Each record carries up to 80+ normalized fields including legal name, ABN (Australian Business Number) / NZ charity registration number, country, address, founded year, full Annual Information Statement (AIS) financials for Australian charities (revenue, expenses, assets, employee count, program spend), full annual return financials for NZ charities, DGR (Deductible Gift Recipient) status from the ATO for Australian charities, GiveRadar Integrity Assessment (0-100, scoring registration, financial transparency, governance, contact availability, and data recency), per-charity news context for transparency, and contact details. Pacific Island nations (Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands) are not covered, because most Pacific Island governments do not publish open-data charity registries. Frequently asked questions

What does the Oceania charity database cover?
94K+ nonprofits across Australia (64,162 via ACNC) and New Zealand (29,523 via Charities Services). Those are the only two Oceania countries covered. Both regulators publish full annual financials, making this region exceptionally data-rich for charity research. Pacific Island nations are not covered.
Does it include full ACNC and Charities Services financials?
Yes. Australian charities include the full ACNC Annual Information Statement (revenue, expenses, assets, employee count, program spend, multi-year history). New Zealand charities include full Charities Services annual returns. Together these are among the most transparent charity-financial regimes globally.
Can I look up a charity by ABN, ACN, or NZ charity number?
Yes. The API supports lookup by ABN (Australian Business Number), ACN (Australian Company Number), ACNC charity registration number, and NZ Charities Services charity number. Free-text and fuzzy name search is also supported.
Does it include DGR (Deductible Gift Recipient) status?
Yes. Australian charity records include DGR (Deductible Gift Recipient) status from the ATO, which determines whether donations are tax-deductible. This is a critical filter for Australian donors and corporate giving programs.
Are Pacific Island nations covered?
No. Oceania coverage is Australia and New Zealand only. Pacific Island nations (Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands) are not covered, because most Pacific Island governments do not publish open-data charity registries. If that changes, we will add them.
How does GiveRadar assess each charity?
Every charity gets a 0-100 Integrity Assessment built from registration, financial transparency, governance, contact availability, and data recency, with a small penalty for automated red flags (high executive pay, stale filings, or bare-minimum disclosure). It is a research and verification signal, not a sanctions or AML screen. GiveRadar does not process donations; use it to research and verify a charity before you give.
Is the database free?
Yes. Web search free. REST API free tier 10 requests/day. Pro 99 USD/month. CC-BY 4.0.
